Jin Mashiba (真柴迅 Mashiba Jin) is the third baseman and the only first year of Tosei High School's baseball team.
Background[]
Tosei puts first year on the roster every year, and Mashiba is the one who is selected as a regular for the Koshien qualifier tournament.
Appearance[]
Mashiba has black, short-cropped hair.
Personality[]
Mashiba is among the Tosei members who underestimated Nishiura initially, especially Mihashi due to his scrawny physique. He also takes great pride in his position as the leadoff hitter and refuses to let go of his position to Nakazawa.
Skills[]
Mashiba is skillful enough to be placed as the leadoff hitter, a position that is rarely given to first year as noted by Abe. Though he also notes that as a freshman, he would be the weakest link among the team of experienced regulars in Tosei, and thus managed to trick him into strikeout in the first inning.
It was later revealed that the reason he is the leadoff hitter is because of his incredible speed as a runner. Hamada notes that he is just as fast, if not faster, than the track runners of Nishiura school who help their baseball team to practice against Tosei.
Relationships[]
Riou Nakazawa[]
He seems close enough with Nakazawa to be teased by him after he got a strikeout in the first inning. Nakazawa also jokingly agrees with the coach to replace Mashiba as the leadoff hitter, which results in a loud protest from Mashiba.
